Raising awareness of issues such as informed consent, monitoring, regulation and long term follow up of ECT is very important to me. See BBC NI coverage of the below research paper at https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-66587095

Welcome

Culture, attitudes and staff health and wellbeing impact directly the quality, effectiveness and safety of service delivery. It also affects how we are with and see people. Services should be created with the people and communities who have or will need those services. Whatever our roles, we are the people and communities. Culture and attitudinal change take time and courage. My skill lies in using trauma informed values and principles and theories underpinning these, combined with my lived experience, to bring to life and humanise learning and change. I bring perspectives and insights gleaned from years of personal experiences navigating a variety of services both in South Africa and Northern Ireland. This work has application across various sectors including but not limited to Health Trusts, GP Practices, Police, Ambulance Services, Educational Settings, Community and Voluntary Groups.

In All I Do …

I aim to create spaces using innovative approaches, where sensitive and challenging issues can be opened and explored safely and all perspectives are welcomed. I believe conditions where people feel safe, valued, listened to and heard, where relationships are based on trust and mutual respect, the potential to change lives is limitless. This comes with many years’ experience developing and delivering responsive education working alongside those in statutory, community and voluntary sectors. It also comes with personal experience of trauma and how our systems, even unintentionally, can cause further harm. Change begins with us. One relationship at a time.

“When you embark on an ambitious project, that seeks to change how mental health care is delivered on a large scale, you need visionaries who can see and advise you as to what your end goal should be, who have rigorously examined research and practice.  Lisa Morrison has successfully brought these abilities to the table in a number of regional workstreams, whilst also skilfully connecting her experiences and learning with that of other stakeholders.  Lisa has encouraged and facilitated brave and difficult conversations around coproduction, trauma and suicide, with skill and insights that have been of immense value in our work.”
